Charlene Heilmann

Lead Medical Technician

Charlene Heilmann was born in 1972 in Cape Town, South Africa. She received a national diploma (Cape Technikon) in clinical technology, pulmonology, in 1994, and a further national diploma in clinical technology, critical care, in 1997.

Charlene Heilmann was trained in the Respiratory Unit and the Lung and Pediatric Critical Care Unit of Tygerberg Hospital, Stellenbosch, SA. She also worked as pulmonary and medical technician at the Drug Research Unit, University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, SA, at the Pulmonary Research Institute at Krankenhaus Grosshansdorf, Germany, and the Pulmonary Division, University Hospital, Mainz, Germany.

Mrs. Heilmann has received the South African Pulmonology Society (SAPS) Junior Travelling Fellowship in 1999.

She further completed postgraduate training courses in Pharmacology and Computer Science, Durban, SA, and FDA Site Inspection Preparation, Cape Town, SA.

Charlene Heilmann (Louw) has published or co-authored several articles and abstracts in the field on lung pharmacology and therapy.
